"Absolutely fantastic!!!" - 25 April 2008
I pre-ordered the Wii Fit from local shop and having purchased it first thing this moring, i have not left it alone. The game offers more of an entertainment side to getting fit rather than hrs and hrs at ur local gym. Well worth the money and well dun 2 Nintendo!!!

"A hefty price to pay, but worth it in the end" - 25 April 2008
After months of waiting, Wii Fit finally arrived at this proud persons home today after weeks of agony! In Japan, it made record sales for the sheer speed by which it sold, but could it be as successful over here?
Upon opening the package, look out for the small yellow sticker on the top flap, advising you to take out the card-sandwich that contains the CD-Box, manuals, and batteries first. After doing so, you can carefully take out the Balance Board.
The first thing you'll notice when you receive, or find the package is the sheer weight and size of it. Adverts don't do any justice to hold solidly build the Wii Balance board, or its size! I'm actually quite flummoxed as to where i'm going to keep it, but then I realised because we have glass TV stand, it can just about slot under the bottom shelf quite neatly. The board is excellently made and is well designed - the top surface unfortunately does attract the odd bit of muck from peoples feet, so I would advise you to just rub off any fluff of your feet from the carpet before getting on it. Their are 2 slight depressions where your feet are supposed to be placed, and have a textured surface so you can feel it.
Many of you are probably wondering whats so special about this board, and quite rightly so - little promotion has been given out as to it's capabilities. But basically, the Balance Board is like a digital-weighing scale, except their are pressure sensors all over the board, detecting 'where' you're shifting weight. This means that your body position can be monitored directly to the Wii, and on the screen. And because it's digital, their are absolutely no moving parts, and nothing is mechanised. Upon stepping on it, it feels just like you're standing on some soft tiles in a posh gym.The Balance Board connects via Bluetooth just like your Wii Motes. The Bluetooth also means you can place the board anywhere in your home and it'll still give a read out to the Wii.
This brings me onto a discussion some have been wondering about - does it work on thick carpets? Yes it does - the feet on the balance board are loose and account for absorption. In English, this means they absorb unnecessary build up in the carpet. And obviously, its common sense 'not' to place this on a rug...
Once you've put the disc into the Wii and let it load up, you'll be asked to put the batteries into the bottom of the board, and sync it to the console. The button used to sync it, with its cool blue L.E.D, is also the Power button, just as you would press any button on the Wii Remote to connect it to the console.
Now you're almost ready to get Wii Fit-ting! (if their is such an adjective!) All you need to do now is register yourself, and any other members of your family/friends using your Mii's. You start by choosing your Mii, to which you are then greeted by a wacky, but friendly 3-D version of your Balance Board which has come to life on the game. He will talk to you all about the board (to which he is talking about himself - he wants you to think the board you are standing on is him... if you catch my drift...) and gives a great in depth analysis into common physical problems we encounter in every day life. I found this great and really opened my eyes to things we take for granted, like slouching!
But obviously, you need to give some information to this 'Balance Board' guy so he can "get to know you". Once you've entered your height, date of birth, and weight (done automatically) you are asked to do a few simple tests. Nothing major - just a few balance tests, shifting your weight left and right, which helps determine a simple 'Wii Fit Age'.
And without further a do, you're ready to get going. The Wii Fit Plaza is your centre menu for all activities, and is very simple to use. Using the + and - buttons on your remote, you can shift between all the avail categories, from Yoga to funner balancing activities. I would just like to point out that not all the activities are available upon first playing the game. You need to gain pennies for your 'FitBank' - a cross between a Piggy Bank and well... the amount of minutes you play an activity! The more minutes, the more coins, and the more you unlock. If you're a fit person like myself (not boasting.. honest!) then you'll have no problem in spending long periods on such exercises as Jogging. But much of the activities available take a long time to get used to.
Their are roughly just over 40 activities available, spread out through the categories. As I said, patience is a huge virtue, and this is all part of correcting your balance. Such as the Skiing game; you may be inclined to keep leaning left and right aggressively, but just as in real life, you only need small movements. Yet its these small movements, combined with the length with you keep that position in, which helps improve your flexibility.
But then their a

"Expensive... but a cheaper work out than a gym membership!" - 25 April 2008
I pre ordered this with the intention that hopefully it would encourage me to do some exercise and i have to say im not disappointed. There is a fab balance of activities, many of which are more of a work out than i thought they would be. The muscle toning activities are quite difficult and i could feel them working instantly... after a few weeks im sure i will see the results. The balance board is suprisingly heavy and stylish to look at.
If u want a work out and you normally dislike exercise... buy this. The price tag is expensive, but i know it will pay for itself in place of my gym membership!
Only darwback is that the balance board is quite hard the hands during press up activities.... but this is only a tiny flaw in what is a fab game and piece of kit. Buy it now!!!!

"Fitness of the Future!" - 25 April 2008
Well, I have just bought Wii Fit here in Germany... And last night I got home and started it up! The great thing is that the Balance Board is Wireless! But like all Nintendo things recently... you need Batteries! Argh! Wii Fit allows you to use your Miis! But, be prepared for a shock! Once your Weight etc is measured the Mii will look like you even more! My Mii is now podgy like me!
I thought Wii Fit was easy to use and alot more precise than I could of imagined! The only thing I think could of been done better is the option to add your own music... this would add more longevity to the whole experience!
But, I think this may just be the start of the things you can do with the balance board! and there maybe alot more to come! Nintendo, this is a great start and is much more fun than sitting in a gym watching MTV!
5 STARS!

""Wii can work (it) out!"" - 25 April 2008
Having been a loyal Nintendo fan since forever, I knew this was going to be a hit based on their previous releases of new and different accessories for their games consoles.
From releasing a PC style mouse for 'Mario Paint' and a Scope gun on the SNES, bongos for 'Donkey Konga' on GameCube, to adding a touch screen to their new handheld console the DS, I knew that paying £69.99 for 'Wii Fit' would not be a waste or money, nor would it be all 'hype' like some people claim.
The first thing that shocked me though is the incrediable weight of the actual 'Wii Board' - if the games on this don't strengthen your muscles, lifting the board up and down will!!
Before it arrived, I was worried that I would have to move my thick rug from the floor and use the board straight on my wooden laminate, but it sat sturdy and flat so moving the carpet wasn't a problem.
The board is as easy to set up as the 'Wii Remote'. Simply insert the batteries and sync it with your Wii Console.
The board has a max weight limit of 150kg or 23 st 8lbs. However, there are some games that do not require the board, for example, there is a jogging game where your jog on the spot with the 'Wii Mote' in your hand or pocket which monitors your progress. This is great if your over the board's max weight limit - there are still activities you can do to help loose weight until you can use it properly.
The game is hosted by a 'Wii Board' - imagine the board sat up vertically on one end with two corners representing 'feet' and two corners representing 'arms' that flexes in all directions as though alive! The board talks to you in a voice similar to 'Luma' - the star being from 'Super Mario Galaxy'. The board host helps you to set up the game and board, aswell as monitor your progress each day and greets you each time you play.
During set up, you select your 'Mii' from the ones already stored on your console. You input your height and date of birth. It will then weigh you and tells you your Body Mass Index (BMI). This tells you if your are over or underweight or in an ideal reange. It also tells you your weight on a seperate page but your don't have to look if you don't want to!!
It then asks you what your goal is - to loose, gain or maintain weight and what time period you want to acheive it over. You can reset your time period every 2 weeks if you're originally overly optimistic!
There is also an option to add a password so no one else can see your weight or progress, if you like to keep it a secret from the rest of your family or friends. Up to 8 people can store their information and progress.
Like all Nintendo games, not all the excersises are avaliable immediately, you have to earn them.
You are given the equivilant of a piggy bank in which to store 'time' in. For example, for each 2 minute workout you do, you deposit 2 minutes in the piggy. Each time you earn a certain amount of time, eg. 10 mins, 15 mins, 30 mins, a new activity will unlock.
Another thing is you can't cheat! If you stop exercising, your personal trainer will tell you off! I gave up 10 seconds into doing the push ups when I realised I was over my head with this and was immediatley repremanded 'These excerises aren't going to do themselves you know'!.
During the exercises, the board monitors your centre of balance, the better your balance the more you score at the end.
Each activity has a score board and a star rating so you can compete against yourself or others for the top place on the score board.
There are 4 catogories of exercises - Yoga (learn balance, breathing and muscle flexibility), Muscle Workout (increase muscle strength and flexibility), Aeorbic Exercises (hula hooping, jogging, step dance etc) and Balance Games (football heading, skiing, table tilt etc).
All exercises can only be done on Easy to start with. I'm assuming, the more your do each exercise (it keeps count), it will eventually unlock a higher level for a more intense workout once your body is used to it's upkeep.
Yoga and Mucsle Workout are done with an instructor of your choice (choose male or female). They wil demonstrate how to do the exercise before going through it with you during the workout.
They will comment on your balance and posture throughout and give you tips on how to improve.
The great thing is, the instructors speak with English accents. This may not be a big deal to some, but for me listening to an American drone on at you is irritating and would definatley annoy me. Because they speak to you as a real Yoga instructor would, you want to listen to what they have to say, which is an important part of the game. Everything they say is both spoken and written in text on the screen.
Aerobic Exercise and Balance Games are done with your Mii representing you - what you do on the board or with the 'Wii Mote' wil

"Don't be ripped off!" - 25 April 2008
The board and games are brilliant, great idea with all the fitness however, here comes the negative bit...
...wait for Amazon to get it in stock, don't be in such a rush to get it. The unit retails for just under £70, not the £100+ that some people have it advertised for!!
Look around or wait for Amazon to get it in, don't let some cheeky Market Place seller fleece you!
