Editorial: The Wii Nunchuk controller is a secondary controller that adds even more innovation to the next generation of gaming, and does it all with less physical movement. Used in conjunction with the standard Wii remote, certain games need the Nunchuk controller for additional control options. Contoured perfectly to fit a player's hand,
The Wii Nunchuk (left) connects directly to the Wii remote. View larger. | the Nunchuk controller builds on the simplicity of the Wii Remote controller. The Nunchuk contains the same three-axis motion sensor found in the Wii Remote, but also includes an analog stick, and two buttons to help assist in character movement. Many games will allow you to control your character's movement with the Nunchuk in your left hand, while your right hand is free to execute the action movements with the Wii Remote. For example, the Nunchuk is particularly useful for games like Wii Boxing. You can use the Nunchuk to punch with your weaker hand, while you use the Wii remote to punch and jab with your predominant hand.
Take the fun to the next level with two-handed control of your games. View larger. | In first-person shooters, the Nunchuk controller carries the burden of movement, freeing you to aim and fire using a more natural motion with the Wii Remote. In a football game, you can make your quarterback elusive with the Nunchuk controller while you search for an open receiver to throw to using the Wii Remote. Serious gamers may even want to use two Nunchuk controllers to gain a fierce competitive edge. Because the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers are only relatively dependent on each other, players are free to hold them in whichever hand is most comfortable. Perfectly suitable for either right or left-hand use, the Wii Nunchuk controller grants accessibility not often seen in previous game controllers. Also, the Nunchuk controller doesn't need its own power--it plugs into the Wii Remote controller when it's in use. So there's no need to worry about charging or replacing expensive batteries. Adding a Nunchuk to your Wii system will definitely help you open the doors to the next level of gaming, and seriously step up performance. Just be careful not to knock out your significant other, or bruise the dog, severely, while using one, or two Nunchuk controllers.

"Amazing" - 28 December 2006
Whilst i understand and sympathize with your disability, the controllers are still fantastic pieces of technology. I hope that Nintendo will cater towards players with disabilities.
For those fortunate enough not to have any disability, this console will rock your world.

"The Best Analog Controller ever?" - 29 December 2006
I've used the analogue controllers on the N64, Gamecube, Dreamcast, PS2 and X-Box, but none beat this for sensitivity and controllability.
The PS2 controller is pretty much on-off - more digital than analogue. The others are quite good, but this is better.
Add in the accelerometer feature (you can shake the controller in any direction) and it just gets better.
It's also comfortable in use, though it could do with being a bit thicker. Once you have used the combination of wand and nun-chuck, all other controllers seem to be cramped and nearly unusable. The only problem is availability.

"A whole new dimension" - 29 December 2006
I am far from a Console addict, this is my first purchase as a console as I have to say, it takes it to a whole new dimension. You interact with the game, you aren't sat down twiddling thumbs you are up and moving. Wii sports is great and the addition of the nunchuk just adds.
This additional nunchuk is so I can play 2 player against my family and friends.
WII ROCKS

"essential add on" - 30 December 2006
Since the Wii only comes with one nunchuck and one remote, additional controllers are a must have to enjoy multiplayer games on the console. Although you can do two player for the "Sports" and "Play" games (Play requires a second nunchuck for the tanks game it includes) with just the wii remote, the nunchuck is handier for more complex multiplayer titles.
I could probably say something about how amazing the Wii is to control, but you'll have heard that already. My only criticism? lack of an analogue trigger, and a clickable function we've been used to in the Cube and PS2 / Xbox - but that's a very minor point.

"To all non disabled people..." - 30 December 2006
I think its a little unfair that someone disabled gives the console/controller 1 star... I mean, its not Nintendo's fault if you can't do it, its not the fault of the controller. The sad truth is they can't take into account every persons disability.
The consoles and controller for everyone else work great. I love it, I'm sorry that the person below doesn't because they can't use it (assuming it isn't someone just playing a sick joke), but its kind of an unfair view.

"Fantastic!" - 30 December 2006
the new Wii controller set up is fantastic! I can honestly say its probably one of the best I've ever used and i'm a serious gamer! The interaction with new games is astounding..i can only say..more please!
To address the last reviewers posts..I find myself rather confused by what your trying to say! I accept that you are disabled and I understand your frustration. I'm pretty sure that nintendo where aiming this at the majority market. thats not to say if you have a disability the Wii and controlers are off limits..Its just if you suffer from Muscular Dystrophy...then the games, rather than the controllers are where your problem lies! Some of the games require SERIOUS movement at high speeds.
I ache from simulated boxing fights and what not...I havnt had this much excerise in years!
now..Like the last reviewer...If you dont fancy moving around much or cant..then there are 2, and only 2 alternatives avalible to you!
1) buy a classic controller for your Wii. this works with a large range of games..though not all so make sure you check the title supports it first (all Wiiconnect24 games will..infact a classic contoler is must for that)
2) Dont buy a Wii. its that simple. you need space to play the Wii in and you need to move lots for a lot of title..if its not your cup of tea..STAY AWAY!

"A Very Good Add-On" - 1 January 2007
This is a very useful add-on for the Wii Remote. It gives you the freedom of 3D-Movement on screen in games such as Zelda or Red Steel and is also motion sensitive like the Remote so you use both hands to interact with the games. It also give you two more buttons (Z and C) so you have even more control over your gameplay. Included with the console and a must buy for each remote you own!!

"Excellent, if over priced" - 4 January 2007
I had only ever owned a gameboy advance, but my friends showed me some videos and soon a wii was all i wanted. The nunchuck is an excellent add on as you need it for alot of the wii games and even though you get one with the console, if you get an extra wiimote you need one of these. Apart from the in-shop price of £0.00, it is excellent. You must buy one of these if you get an extra wiimote for your wii, otherwise you will regret it, as you will miss out on many hours of fun with your friends on almost every game!! A simple must buy if you have an extra wiimote.

"Perfect design" - 3 January 2007
As always with Nintendo, this is a perfectly designed piece of kit. Compliments the wii-mote well and has that familiar N64/GC analog stick which will always be far better than anything Sony can produce.
The buttons are both in good positions to avoid finger strain.

"Nicely done" - 2 January 2007
The nunchuck is a great attachment as it gives an analogue stick, two extra buttons and like the wii remote can be motion sensored. It fits well in your hand and gives the wii remote the ability to control your more normal games like Zelda but in a more fun way.
